MIDORI ATAKA
When we came to Midori with an inquiry regarding a possible dex recording, we had no idea she would record what is one of our flagship recordings of our first season 1 drop. Of course, we never doubted her – anyone who has seen her on the organ is aware of her most graceful command of the instrument.
We recorded her collection of organ music, titled “2 Organs”, on Thursday May, 11, 2023, on the Peabody Conservatory Griswold Hall organ, as well as Peabody’s portative organ. Accompanied by plaster casts of an early Greek frieze and a 16th century tapestry, this collection is drenched in drama, a sort of visual tension which mirrors the harmonic tension in Midori’s organ performance.
